Charles Dodsley Walker, Founder and Conductor

The 2011 - 2012 Season Announced

Canterbury Choral Society launched its 60th Season under the direction of founder and conductor Charles Dodsley Walker on December 18, 2011 with a special Christmas concert of holiday music at the Church of the Heavenly Rest at 90th Street and Fifth Avenue, New York, NY.  The 60th Anniversary Season featured an enticing series of three concerts exemplifying the principles which have guided the Canterbury Choral Society from the beginning. Our selection of works to perform this season included compositions spanning five centuries.

Over the years, we have periodically presented concerts featuring music for chorus and brass, which have always been greeted enthusiastically. These polychoral-with-brass concerts always get an enthusiastic response. Come to our Spring Concert and revel in the sonorous sounds of voices and brass instruments.  Entitled "Six Centuries of Music for Chorus, Brass and Organ," the concert  will feature a brass ensemble of trumpets, trombones and tuba.  Two of the compositions to be heard will include also kettledrums.
